After choosing the Italian flag for my project, I brainstormed many ideas. I thought of making something out of food, more specifically out of pasta. However feeling that it was a weak idea, I did some research on the history of masquerades and masks. I found that the Venetians were the ones who invented the concept. I researched all the different kinds of Italian masks and was inspired to make my flag out of a mask. I did not make the actual mask; it is plastic, and I bought it from a crafts store. I did however, design the mask. I first painted the lips gold and the red design. Then I outlined the red paint with gold glitter. I then proceeded to glue gold material around the entire mask, as well as the feathers which represent the Italian flag. The black ribbon was already attached to the mask.
